With skills in interpersonal communication, fundraising, and collaborative planning, Jamie Comstock has won several awards for her administrative work, her communication research, and her teaching abilities. After moving into administrative assignments, she has continued to teach at least one Communication course every year because she understands and values that importance of the classroom experience and never wanted to get too far away from the academic mission, which was the main reason she entered higher education. Part of Dr. Comstock’s philosophy of collegiate education focuses on the diversity of the student body, which is influenced by the school’s recruitment and retention programs and other initiatives designed to promote social responsibility and global awareness. Jamie Comstock also fully understands and advocates for the benefits of a curriculum that is grounded in and inspired by the liberal arts.
Throughout the course of her career, Jamie Comstock has continued to work to improve access to quality higher education. Her commitment to providing a chance for students to excel and develop their careers has spanned thirty years and includes faculty and administrative posts at Illinois State University, the University of West Florida, Saint Louis University, Baker University, Millikin University, and Butler University.
A strong advocate for civic engagement as a central component of quality education, Jamie Comstock has been active in the communities in which she has lived.
